‘This is definitely not an ODI’ – Fans stunned as India skittle New Zealand top-order, keeping them at 15-5

India and New Zealand locked horns with each other at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. It started on a funny note for India as Rohit Sharma forgot what he wanted to do after he had won the toss. In the end, India won the toss and chose to bowl.
Finn Allen was the first to go as he was castled by Mohammed Shami for a five-ball duck to get them off to a score of 0-1. Henry Nicholls was the next man out as he edged a ball from Siraj to slip into the safe hands of Shubman Gill. Nicholls pushed at the ball with a slightly closed bat face and did not cover for the movement of the ball which led to his downfall. The score was 8-2.
The next one to be dismissed was Daryl Mitchell. He dismissed the right-hand batter via a caught and bowled. Mitchell was looking to work the ball towards the on-side and played the ball with a closed bat face that resulted in a thick front edge that went back into the hands of Shami. When Mitchell fell the score was 9-3.
It was a superb performance from the Indian bowlers who had New Zealand batters on the mat
The Left-hander Devon Conway. Conway was out via a caught and bowled. The catch was down to the brilliance of Hardik Pandya. Conway leant forward to drive a good length ball outside off and drilled to the left of the bowler. Hardik, who was in his follow-through, happened to stick his left hand out and the ball struck. This was the fourth wicket down for the Kiwis. The score was 15-4 when Conway was dismissed.
The last one to fall was Tom Latham. It was a nothing shot from the New Zealand skipper. Latham just hung his bat out to a good length ball angling across to the left-hander and he got a thick edge. The catch was collected by Gill at slip. This was Gill’s second catch. The score was 15-5 when Latham got out.
It was a superb start which was provided by the bowlers from the Men in Blue. The bowlers were potent, they bowled good lines and lengths and also they were offered assistance from the pitch. There was major help from the pitch for the pacers and they hit the right areas early on. At the time of writing, New Zealand are 48-5.
