Nick Hobson takes a blinder to dismiss Matthew Critchley near boundary rope in BBL 12

The 52nd match of the Big Bash League took place at Perth Stadium between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades. The Renegades won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the first innings, the Scorchers bossed over the Renegades bowling by putting up a huge total on the board. Stevie Eskinazi made 54 off 29 balls with six fours and three sixes and Cameron Bancroft made an unbeaten 95 off 50 balls with five fours and six sixes.
The top-order batters laid a great foundation for the Scorchers at the top and also it helped Scorchers rack up the runs on the board. The other contributors were Aaron Hardie who made 22 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes. And Cooper Connolly made 20 off 11 balls with three fours to give Scorchers the finish as they ended on 212-5 in their 20 overs.
Melbourne Renegades were restricted to 202-5
For the Renegades, amidst all the carnage, the most successful bowlers were Mathew Critchley who took 2-34 in his four overs. Corey Rocchiccioli went for 42 runs in his four overs but picked up two wickets. Shaun Marsh got the Renegades off to a flying start as he made 54 off 34 balls with seven fours and one six.
In the penultimate ball of the 13th over, Ashton Tuner bowled to Critchley who heaved the ball to the leg side. Nick Hobson had to go back as the ball was going over his shoulder, he stretches his hands while he is airborne and pulled off a sensational catch with two hands. It was a screamer from Hobson.
Martin Guptill fell early for 15 off 19 balls with two fours. Aaron Finch kept the Renegades in the hunt with an unbeaten 76 off 35 balls with seven fours and five sixes. Will Sutherland made a quickfire 30 off q18 balls with two fours and one six and Jack Prestwidge remained unbeaten on 10 off 5 balls with one four and one six. In the end, the Scorchers won by 10 runs.
