Season 12 of the Big Bash League has been going at full tilt. With some incredible matches already taken place, the league has successfully come true on its promise to produce thrilling matches. On Sunday, the third-placed Melbourne Renegades locked horns with fifth-placed Sydney Thunders for a chance to move upward on the points table.

While the match was won by Melbourne Renegades, one moment that is going viral on social media is Rilee Rossouw’s six in the first inning. Playing at 41, the South African batter smashed Andre Russel for a huge six-over long-on.

The southpaw was quick to latch onto an overpitched delivery from Russel and smash it onto the longest part of the boundary. The six lands a few meters into the Marvel Stadium stand after leaving Rossouw’s bat.

Here’s the video:

The South African batter helped Thunder achieve a good total of 174/6 in the first innings. He was the top scorer for the team and held the fort after their openers Matthew Gilkes (3) and Alex Hales (16) got out cheaply. Alex Ross also played a significant knock of 39 in 23 deliveries alongside Oliver Davies who hit 33 on just 18 balls.

Coming onto chase, Renegades got off to a poor start as well after wicketkeeper batter Sam Harper got out at duck in the first over itself. Captain Nic Maddinson held the inning from the other end with his 39 off 28. It was however Aaron Finch who thwarted all challenges from Thunder to lead the Renegades to a thrilling win in the last over. In just 43 balls, the recently retired player hit 70 with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Finch hit the winning runs on the fifth ball of the last over and took the team across the finish line with a double. With this win, Renegades have moved to the second position on the table while Thunders linger at fifth.
