The 1st Qualifier of the Caribbean Premier League was played between The Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Barbados Royals. The game was played at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. The coin went the way of the Guyana Amazon Warriors and they opted to bowl first. Rakheem Cornwall was sent out to open the batting for the Barbados Royals and he did not disappoint. He blazed with fury and carted the Guyana Amazon Warriors bowlers all over the ground.

He scored a sizzling 91 from just 54 balls, with only 2 fours but 11 massive sixes. Kyle Mayers was captaining the side, and he too chipped in with a quickfire 26 from 20 balls, with one four and three sixes. Harry Tector was dismissed in 3 balls by Imran Tahir, but the fireworks were not over as Azam Khan, the Pakistan overseas player smashed a superb fifty from just 35 balls, with three fours and four sixes.

These fireworks from the Barbados Royals batters allowed their side to get to a mammoth total of 195-5 in their 20 overs. This target was definitely going to be a big task for the Guyana Amazon Warriors, and they knew they had to make it big in the powerplay to make it count.

But it just did not happen as the Barbados Royals bowlers ran riot over the Guyana Amazon Warriors batters as they skittled them out for just 108 runs on the board. Ramon Simmonds was the destroyer in chief, as he picked up three wickets for just 17 runs in his spell of three overs. Afghanistan spin sensation Mujeeb Ur Rahaman picked up 2 wickets as well.  Kyle Mayers too bowled one over and gave away just two runs and picked up a wicket in it.

Rakheem Cornwall had a match to remember as he picked up 2 wickets in his spell of 2 overs and gave away just 10 runs. Barbados Royals just showed what they were capable of as they got an 87-run win over the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
