Some lept up in disbelief while others did the same in euphoria as the replay of the last ball of the Bangladesh- Zimbabwe match was shown on the screen. The replay showed Bangladesh wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan collecting the ball in front of the wicket and as a result of it, Zimbabwe were given another lifeline.

Although, the result did not fall in Zimbabwe’s favour the entertainment factor that the game produced was out of the roof. Earlier, Bangladesh had decided to bat first and came up with a score of 150/7 in 20 overs. Opener batter Najmul Hossain Shanto played an incredible knock of 71 off 55 with 7 fours and one six to give a strong start to the Asian team.

The other batters however could not do as well as they faltered at small individual scores. Afif Hossain with a 29 off of 19 was the second-best scorer for the team.

Zimbabwe came into this match on the back of a sensational win against Pakistan in their last game. Chasing 150 was always in their capability but the team struggled at the start as both of their openers Wesley Madhevere (4) and captain Craig Ervine (8) failed to impress. It was Sean Williams who finally took charge of the run chase and played an incredible knock of 64 off of 42 to keep Zimbabwe in the hunt. With 16 needed in the last over the ball was given to Mosaddek Hossain and he successfully defended the target. The last ball drama wherein the last ball was adjudged a no-ball for being collected in front of the wicket allowed Zimbabwe a free hit but they could not grab the opportunity and lost the match by 3 runs.

The cricketing fraternity was ecstatic after watching a great game of a match at the 20-20 World Cup and social media was buzzing as a result of it. Bangladesh move to second in the group just below India while Zimbabwe slide to fourth below South Africa as a result of this match.
