‘Kyu, Hila dala na’- Top 10 memes as Mumbai beat Gujarat by 143 runs in inaugural WTL match

Mumbai and Gujarat battled it out it the first game of the Women’s T20 League. Gujarat won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai did not have the best of starts as Yastika Bhatia departed for just 1 off 8 balls. It was up to the experienced duo of Hayley Mathews and Nat Sciver Brunt to calm things down.  Mathews brought West Indian flair and struck three fours and four sixes in her innings.

Brunt looked good for her 23 off 18 balls with five fours but she was dismissed by Georgia Wareham. From there on the dynamic duo of Harmanpreet Kaur and Amelia Kerr took matters into their own hands and tore the Gujarat bowling attack to shreds. Kaur lit up the DY Patil Stadium with her electric hitting and scored 65 off just 30 balls with 14 fours. She played the field and made eye catching strokes on both sides of the ground.

Kerr on the other hand played a amazing knock of an unbeaten 45 off 24 balls with six fours and one six and was menacing on the on side. In the end Pooja Vastrakar made a cameo of 15 off 8 balls with three fours to give Mumbai a monstrous total of 207-5 in their 20 overs.  In the second innings, Gujarat started off on a wonderful note with Brunt getting the wickets of Harleen Deol and Meghna.

Izzy Wong picked up the wicket of the dangerous Ashleigh Gardner. Beth Mooney has gone off the field due to an injury which is a big blow to Gujarat. Annabel Sutherland got out bowled to Saika Ishaque who picked up the wicket of Wareham as well.

Amelia Kerr gets out Sneh Rana who picked up two wickets with the ball. Ishaque picked up two more wickets. Dylan Hemalatha made 29 off 23 balls with one four and two sixes. it was a superb performance from Mumbai to clinch the match. Mooney was retired hurt and Mumbai win by 143 runs after bundling out Gujarat for 64.
