AB de Villiers has proved that he is one of the most innovative stroke-makers in the game of cricket. The South African has an impeccable record when it comes to all formats of the game. De Villiers has scored 8765 runs in Test cricket at an average of 50.66 and at a strike rate of 54.51. The right-hander has scored 22 centuries and 46 fifties. He has shown both sides in Test cricket where he has played stroke-filled innings and also has played match-saving innings for the Proteas.
Recently De Villiers was asked to give out three of the toughest bowlers that he has ever faced in his cricketing career. The South African picked up three names and said they were Shane Warne, Jasprit Bumrah and Rashid Khan. Warne was one of the most charismatic characters in Australian cricket. He took 708 wickets in Test Cricket. Warne also had 37 five-wicket hauls.
Coming to Jasprit Bumrah, the ace India pacer has gone through a lot of injury problems recently. He missed the 20-20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and also the World Test Championship (WTC) final. Bumrah recently underwent back surgery which took place in New Zealand. When it comes to Bumrah, he shot onto the Indian cricket circuit because of his pace and also his unconventional action.
The right-arm pacer has taken 121 wickets in ODIs in seven years. The man from Gujarat has a very impressive economy rate of 4.63. Bumrah will be hoping to make a comeback in the T20I series against Ireland as per reports. The Third bowler that De Villiers picked was Rashid Khan. Rashid has been a titan when it comes to T20s. He has played in various T20 Leagues around the world. Rashid came to fame for his heroics against Afghanistan and then when he got picked by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions for the first time.
De Villiers in fact has had a good record against Bumrah in the IPL. He also has a wonderful record in the tournament for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He recently announced his retirement from the IPL. It remains to be seen whether he will take up a full-time role at RCB.
