Mahendra Singh Dhoni, recently, arrived in Chennai to start training for the Indian T20 League 2023. MS Dhoni has led Chennai to four Indian T20 League titles. Chennai is the most successful franchise in the Indian T20 League after Mumbai.
Reports have been coming in that Dhoni will most likely play his last Indian T20 League season in 2023. Dhoni played his last 20-20 World Cup in 2016. He was mentor to team India in 2021 20-20 World Cup
Meanwhile, Suresh Raina, in an interview on Jio Cinema, heaped praise on MS Dhoni.
“MS Dhoni brings a lot of positivity. There’s no bigger player than him. He’s world’s best finisher. The way he gets the best out of any player, it’s the most beautiful thing about him”. Raina said.
Dhoni and Raina were the linchpins of Chennai and were the biggest reasons behind Chennai’s consistency.

Raina scored 5528 runs for the Yellove Army with 39 half-centuries and one century to his name. He made the runs at an average of 22.51 and a strike rate of 136.73. Raina has often been called as “MR Indian T20 League”.
Ravichandran Ashwin mentioned this in an interview on his YouTube channel. Raina has played 205 matches for Chennai. Raina is called ‘Chinna Thala’, which is an equivalent of a vice-captain.
MS Dhoni, on the other hand, is referred to as “Thala”, which means the head in Tamil. MS Dhoni has scored 4978 runs at a strike rate of 135.19 and an average of 39.19. Dhoni has scored 24 fifties in the 234 Indian T20 League games that he has played. Dhoni has been with Chennai since 2008 and has become their adopted son of sorts.
The former India captain will have a big task on his hands and that is to get Chennai back on track after the Yellow Army had disappointing seasons in 2020 and 2022. Chennai brought Ben Stokes for 16.25 crores INR for this season. Chennai will want to make sure that their talismanic skipper signs off on a high.
