IPL 2023: 3 reasons why KL Rahul should not captain LSG

LSG are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2023 standings with eight points from seven games

KL Rahul is a run bank unlike any other in the shortest format, but there has always been discussion about his intentions at the top of the order and his captaincy. The Lucknow Super Giants have dropped points in three of their last seven games in Indian Premier League 2023, and the captain is under increasing pressure.

It might be a good idea for LSG to delegate control to a different player. There aren’t any great candidates on the current squad, and because Rahul hasn’t performed well thus far, they may need to go to the upcoming auction to find a new captain.

LSG appeared to have one of the greatest rosters following the IPL 2022 auction. When they lost their way towards the end of the season, they were on track to finish in the top two but managed to secure their place in the Eliminator.

Lucknow was eliminated after their opening playoff match, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) managed to advance to Qualifier 2. They logically looked to the 2023 auction to fill the club’s gaps and entered the current campaign with a more balanced roster.

KL Rahul is responsible for LSG’s inability to punch with even a fraction of the force of their team. Other league captains like MS Dhoni and Sanju Samson have guided teams with obvious flaws to greater heights. Rahul has thus far been unable to provide the outcomes that the Super Giants have been capable of, despite having access to all available resources.
