The ongoing T20I series between India and South Africa hangs in balance with the visitors edging hosts 2-1. There is still all left to play for in the series as both teams have a good chance to win the trophy.
The fourth match of the series could end India’s hopes altogether which is why they must win this to save the series. Before the all-important game starts let’s look at important details.
The Indian team lost their first two matches having scored a very good total of 211 in the first and a defendable 148 in the next. With a great comeback in the third game, the Indian team must be filled with great confidence. Having made 179/5, the Indian bowling unit was able to bowl out the Proteas for a mere 131. One peculiar thing about the team selection in all three matches was that none of the players were changed even after two losses on the trot.
With Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi still warming benches, the decision to leave them out for the fourth would be tough. But that is the most likely decided that the team management would take. Now that the team has won with the same playing XI, a change looks most unlikely, if no injury happens.
Probable Playing XI
Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk,c), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhivneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan
South Africa
The Proteas team is on a roll at the moment. Their record against India in India stands at 5-2 in South Africa’s favor. In the first two matches, the visitors dominated the hosts making a mockery of the target.
The batting trio of David Miller, Rassie van der Dussen and Heinrich Klassen have looked very aggressive and have thwarted every Indian challenge. Their bowling unit with Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Dwaine Pretorius have troubled Indian batters. Even Tabraiz Shamsi was difficult to play in the last game. The Proteas would be looking to go with the same team as well. Quinton de Kock who was out with a wrist injury after the first T20I could be included in the team.
Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Temba Bavuma(c), Rassie van der Dussen, David Miller, Tristan Stubbs, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje
The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot is a high-scoring ground. With an average first innings score of 180, expect a good total from the team batting first. The average score batting second is 170. The chasing team has won two of the three matches here.
The weather update shows a 40% chance of rain. The temperature would be 30 by the evening and drop below later on.
