An enthralling day of Test cricket was in store as the Indian batting unit finally got their act together and started getting the runs in the fourth Test. India got a solid start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rohit made 35 off 58 balls with three fours and one six. The star of the show for India was Gill, to be particular.

The man from Punjab scored 128 off 235 balls with 12 fours and one six. Gill scored his first Test century on home soil which was also his second Test hundred in white flannels. He batted with authority and played some eye-catching strokes.

The right-handed batter was at ease against Mitchell Starc. The 23-year-old has scored 130 runs against the Australia pace spearhead in 9 innings when the two faced each other in Test matches.

Usman Khawaja had made 180 off 422 balls for Australia in their first innings at Ahmedabad

Cheteshwar Pujara scored a watchful 42 off 121 balls with three fours before he was dismissed leg before by Todd Murphy. Virat Kohli broke his bad run of form in the longest format by scoring an unbeaten 59 off 128 balls, including five fours. Ravindra Jadeja gave him company with an unbeaten 16 off 54 balls with one six.

Australia made a mammoth total of 480. The Kangaroos were led by Usman Khawaja with the bat. The 36-year-old scored 180 off 422 balls with 21 fours. Khawaja was ably assisted by Cameron Green, who scored a stellar 114 off 170 balls with 18 fours.

The men from down under were helped by contributions from Nathan Lyon, who scored 34 off 96 balls with six fours. Todd Murphy scored 41 off 61 balls, a knock which was laced with five fours.

For India, Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with brilliant bowling figures of 6-91 in batting friendly conditions where the wicket was not doing much. India recorded convincing wins at Nagpur by an innings and 132 runs and at Delhi by 6 wickets respectively. Australia came storming back with a 9 -wicket win at Indore.
