The English cricket summer has started with a Test match between England and New Zealand at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. However, the game has been under heavy scrutiny after poor batting from both sides in the first innings. Batting first, the Kiwis were all-out on 132 with six batters failing to reach the double figures. In reply, the Three Lions got all-out on 141 after being 59/0 at one stage.

During the second Day of the match, netizens, predominantly Indian fans, had trolled the pitch. However, it was seen that there were no demons in the wicket as most of the batters were guilty of their technical frailties. Most of the batters from both teams were either poking at the ball going away from them or not defending with the right intent.

Meanwhile, Iceland Cricket took to Twitter and posted an image of one of their players sitting across a Volcano explosion. The image clearly depicts that even their players wouldn’t have lost this many wickets on Day One of a Test match. The image has got 201 likes and counting and 17 retweets and counting.

Talking about the game, after trailing by just nine after the first innings, the visitors were in deep trouble when they lost four wickets for just 56 runs. The top order was once again guilty of playing poor shots. At this stage, all-rounder Daryl Mitchell and wicketkeeper batter Tom Blundell stitched an unbeaten partnership of 180 runs before the stumps were called. The duo is nearing a Hundred at the Home of Cricket as Mitchell is batting on 97 and Blundell is on 90.

The Third day of the Test will be interesting to watch. The World Test Championship winners would be looking to pile on the misery for the hosts, who have had a tough last 12-16 months, having won only two games out of 16. On the other hand, the Ben Stokes-led side will be looking to pick early wickets and put an end to their misery.
