The world of cricket and Bollywood have evolved in such a way that the two have become inseparable from each other. The cream of Bollywood come together to support the Indian Cricket team for all the big matches. A lot of the Hindi film industry stars have been huge fans and followers of cricket.
The gap between cricket and Bollywood was further narrowed when the top stars invested in franchises in the Indian T20 League when it was first rolled out in 2008. One among them is Ayushmann Khurrana, who has been an avid lover of the sport for a long time. He also hosted the inaugural edition of the Indian T20 League in 2008 when no one had any idea how the Indian T20 League would evolve.
He has been a cricket lover since he was a child and the interesting thing to note here is that he carries his cricket kit in his vanity van so that he could play the game during his time of leisure.
The actor prefers to play the game especially when he is shooting outdoors with the local crew rather than retiring to his hotel room after a hard day’s work. Ayushmann feels that playing the sport would serve as an ice-breaking session between him and the crew which will allow him to get to know the crew members inside out and that will lead to cohesiveness as a unit while working.
Talking about his love for the sport Ayushmann said, “I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of cricket be it watching or playing. I have always had an affinity towards cricket. In school, I used to be a middle-order batsman and have even played as a leg spinner at the district level. Then when I started my career, I got the opportunity to host the extra innings T20 for one of the seasons of IPL and I thoroughly enjoyed doing that.
“Even now, whenever I get an opportunity to play cricket on set, I prod everyone to participate. I can get really competitive when I am on the pitch,” says the actor. When it comes to current films the actor has three projects in the pipeline which are ‘ ‘Action Hero’ ‘Dream Girl 2’ and ‘Doctor G’.”
