In the clash against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup 2022, Arshdeep Singh did not get things going with the new ball, as he did in the all-important clash against Pakistan. He could not provide the ideal foil to Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the other end. But the left-arm pacer, under pressure, produced a superb last over, tried his level best to defend seven runs and showcased his skills with the ball in the end overs.
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has opined that India should have a change in tactics with the ball and think more aggressively with the new ball in hand. He suggested that India use Arshdeep as the third pacer and go with more experienced bowlers like Mohammed Shami upfront with the new ball.
“We are not taking wickets with the new ball, and when that happens it becomes easier for the opponents. We talk about an aggressive approach in batting, but at the same time, our bowling also needs to be aggressive. Watching the tournament, I think Arshdeep Singh is best off as our third seamer and Hardik Pandya as the fourth seamer,” Jaffer emphasized this in conversation with CricTracker on Bat Bricks7 presents Run ki Runneeti show.
