India’s run-machine, Virat Kohli returns to form with his 71st International century against Afghanistan in an Asia Cup encounter on Thursday. He scored a century in just 53 balls, a knock which was laced with 11 fours and 6 sixes. Kohli was searching for runs prior to the start of the Asia Cup 2022. He was coming into the tournament with a healthy break and that helped him a lot as Kohli scored the most runs for India in the tournament.
He scored two half-centuries against Pakistan and Hong Kong. In the ongoing match between India and Sri Lanka, the batting maestro went on to notch his first century in T20 internationals.
Kohli played cautiously in the first couple of overs before changing his gears. He smashed Mujeeb Ur Rahman for two fours and a six, which set the tone for his knock. He wreaked havoc with the bat and didn’t let any bowler settle down. Kohli went on to score an unbeaten knock of 122 runs in 61 balls, including 12 fours and 6 sixes.
His knock helped India notch a massive total of 212 runs at the end of the first innings. Fans and cricketers around the globe celebrated Kohli’s International hundred on Twitter. Here’s a look at some of the notable reactions:
Gautam Gambhir before: Suryakumar Yadav should bat at No.3 in T20 World Cup.
Gautam Gambhir now: Virat Kohli should now bat at No.3 in the T20 World Cup.
– In between lines, there was the King Kohli masterclass.

It’s been a while, but happy to see Virat Kohli back in international century scoring mode. First T20i hundred, and hopefully a precursor to bigger tasks ahead.

You can delay class all you want to, don't even think of denying it.
That ton? Worth it's weight in gold. That smile? Priceless. Shine on, champ. @imVkohli— Sunil Chhetri (@chetrisunil11) September 8, 2022
This is for those who doubted him, said he should be dropped despite having a great T20i record. No one gives it back to critics like Virat Kohli pic.twitter.com/FYsuWyE2uY

Who would have thought Virat Kohli's 71st century will come in T20I. God writes the best script for great players.

In pursuit of the target, Afghanistan have exhibited a horrendous display of batting. Bhuvneshwar Kumar ran through their batting line-up as he picked a five-for and reduced Afghanistan to 34 for 6. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has completed his quota of overs and returned with bowling figures of 5 for 4 in 4 overs. India are likely to win the game and would be happy to end the tournament with a win.
