Huge Update on Rey Mysterio’s injury in Smackdown match against Santos Escobar

Rey Mysterio was severely injured during the episode of WWE SmackDown episode this week. Mysterio and Santos Escobar in a match where the victor would face Austin Theory for the United States Championship. This happened during the encounter after Escobar had a massive dive outside the ring following which Mysterio was terribly injured. The match was halted by the referee and Escobar was declared as the winner.

Due to the injury, there had to be some rejig which took place in the schedule. The match took a quick pace between the two wrestlers. The encounter however came to a screeching halt when Mysterio had to go through a very bad bump. Escobar went in for a suicide dive on Mysterio. When that happened, his head hit the floor. The United States Championship will be played after two weeks. It remains to be seen whether Theory or Escobar will emerge victorious.

I feel a lot of pride and joy when Dominik accomplishes something – Rey Mysterio

Dominik and Rey Mysterio may not be on the same page about certain things. Rey still feels that it was Dominik who caused their family a lot of pain and misery. Despite all of this, Rey is very happy and proud of Dominik’s exploits. Dominik recently showed what he was capable of as he took the NXT North American Championship in a hard-fought final against Wes Lee which took place at the NXT Great American Bash as a triple threat match. He will now look to defend his NXT North American Championship against Lee and Mustafa Ali. The upcoming game will be a Triple Treat match where Rhea Ripley will also be there with Dominik.

“Despite the issues that we might have in our family, you can’t even imagine the amount of pride and joy that I feel when he accomplishes something. That still doesn’t take away from the fact that he has disrespected his whole family and I’m hoping that one day that will all change,” Mysterio said on WWE’s, The Bump.
