Australia skipper Pat Cummins has disclosed that he was startled after he once sent a message to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, which was actually for his Australia teammates. Cummins said that the slip-up happened because he had been added to two WhatsApp groups with the same name called “Legends’ ‘.

The Australia pace spearhead was added to a group called the ‘Legends’, and he had another group with the same name which had the likes of Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood in the group.

“I just opened up my phone then, and I’ve been added to a WhatsApp group called ‘Legends’ with Scott Morrison and Justin Langer in it. We [already] have a WhatsApp group, Hoff, Starcy and I called legends. Hope I don’t send anything to the wrong group,”  Cummins said in the first episode of the documentary, the Test.

He talked about how he sent a message by mistake which was meant for team members.  “I did once. I think it was a stat or a photo or a meme or something that came up and I sent it to the wrong group and I quickly had to delete it. Sorry PM,” he said in the Sydney Morning Herald.

Australia’s next assignment will be a four-match Test series against India

Cummins had taken up the role of Test captaincy after Tim Paine had stepped down on the back of a sexting scandal. He was the first Australian bowler to lead the test side in a full-time capacity. He also took on the reins of being the ODI skipper from Aaron Finch, who retired from the 50-over format in October.

Australia have won four out of the five Tests this summer and have only one solitary draw against South Africa. The Kangaroos are in prime contention for a spot in the Test Championship final on the back of strong Test performances.

They next play a four-match Test series against India in India. The tussle between the two sides will be keenly watched by cricket fans all over. Australia last toured India in 2017. India won the three-match Test series 2-1.
