Ravindra Jadeja, the Indian allrounder, was ruled out of competitive cricket due to an injury that he sustained during the Asia Cup 2022 and since then, the southpaw has been thriving to make a comeback into the national team. Much to the surprise of the Indian fans, he was named in the first two Tests against Australia but his selection will be subject to his fitness.

The allrounder is currently in Chennai to take part in the Ranji Trophy game for Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu which will get underway on January 24, Tuesday. With selectors aiming for his comeback, one could understand that they would have their eyes fixed on the allrounder, given that his services will be necessary to sort the Indian middle order across all formats.

Saurashtra’s coach Niraj Odedra opened up on a WhatsApp conversation that he had with the Indian veteran and added that he received an immediate reply from Jadeja. The coach said that he sent the southpaw a text on how the team is feeling to have him back, only to get an imminent reply from the talented star.

Further, Odedra highlighted that it has been a while since the Indian star took part in the Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra, claiming that it would be vital for the team to have him back as it would boost the morale of the camp ahead of the much-awaited match against Tamil Nadu.

“In fact, I had sent Jaddu a WhatsApp text saying that the boys are really excited to have him back. He immediately wrote back saying he is looking forward to catching up with the team,” Odedra was quoted as saying to Sportstar.

“It’s been a while since he played Ranji Trophy for Saurashtra. A player of that calibre joining the team is a huge morale boost as well. His training and workload will be as per the National Cricket Academy (NCA) protocols,” said the head coach of Saurashtra further.
