India put up a horrible show in the second semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on Thursday as they were handed a 10-wicket defeat by England. England chased down the target with four overs to spare and entered the final of the World Cup. Following India’s loss, the performances of several players have come under the scanner, especially of captain Rohit Sharma who scored just one half-century in the tournament. Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody stated that the Indian captain has lost his rhythm.

“He seems like a number of leaders in this tournament at the top of the order that have had their struggles finding the rhythm to their game and the timing in their game. We have seen it with Kane Williamson, we’ve seen it with Aaron Finch and Babar Azam. They are quality players, but just haven’t found their rhythm,” Moody said on ESPNCricinfo.

The Indian captain struggled in the semi-final and couldn’t get his innings going as he managed to score just 27 off 28 balls. Earlier in the tournament, he got dismissed for just 4 runs in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan. His only half-century of the tournament came against the Netherlands. He could only get low scores of 15, 2, 15, and 27 to his name in the next four matches.

“For Rohit Sharma, at the moment, it is lost. It nearly looked like he was going to break his shackles and burst through with a series of boundaries but it just didn’t happen for him,” Moody added.

Pakistan and England to meet in the finals

Meanwhile, Pakistan and England will face each other in the final of the 20-20 World Cup on Sunday at the MCG. Both teams will be looking to have their hands on the coveted trophy for the second time having won the tournament once before.

Pakistan won its first World Cup in 2009 when they beat Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the final and England won it a year later defeating Australia by seven wickets in the final.

With all eyes set on the MCG for the final, there are dark clouds hovering over the big game as there are high chances of rain expected on the day of the final i.e 10th November.
