A recent tweet by the renowned industrialist Harsh Goenka sent the internet buzzing with speculation about Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma expecting their second child. Although his tweet did not mention either of the two stars, it isn’t all that difficult to put the pieces together and solve the puzzle.
Goenka’s tweet itself was cryptic, mentioning only a cricketer-film star couple expecting a child in London. “A new baby is to be born in the next few days! Hope the baby takes India to great heights like the greatest cricketing father. Or will it follow the mother and be a film star? #MadeInIndia #ToBeBornInLondon,” he wrote on his X account.
No confirmation from Kohli and Anushka!
Virat Kohli has been a notable absence in the ongoing Test series against England, having opted for a leave on account of personal reasons. Initially, he opted out of the first couple of games but that break was eventually extended. This has left fans and analysts alike wondering about the reasons behind his unexpected withdrawal.
The Indian Cricket Board recently asked the public and media to respect his privacy and offered their full support. However, this has naturally sparked speculation, with whispers ranging from the birth of a second child to potential health concerns surrounding his mother. The latter though, was dismissed by Kohli’s brother, Vikas. Whether Kohli’s absence stems from the joyous arrival of a new family member, a need for personal time, or any other reason entirely, understanding and respecting his decision is crucial. The cricketing world can wait, but personal well-being cannot.
Kohli’s return will be keenly anticipated, not just for the runs he scores, but also for the charisma he provides. A few reports have indicated that Kohli will be back for the 5th Test in Dharamsala but it remains to be seen if that translates to fruition. As of now, it seems like the IPL, in which he dons the colours of Royal Challengers Bangalore, will be his comeback stage.
