Indian fans suffered a huge heartbreak, as India lost the final against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023. In a packed stadium that had a majority of them supporting India, Australia won the match and silenced the entire crowd. The performance of Australia was world-class, as they overcame all the challenges to win the match. India lost the match despite being regarded as the favourites to win.
The Indian fans were distraught with the loss of the team. Some of them went overboard and abused some of the players and fans of other teams. They did not spare even the Indian players, who performed well throughout the ODI World Cup 2023. On social media, the accounts of several cricketers are filled with hateful comments, which look ugly and damage the image of Indian fans.
Some of them did not even have enough knowledge about the game. Just for the sake of criticizing someone, the fans took to the Instagram accounts of some cricketers and abused them. One such cricketer who faced abuse from the fans was James Neesham, who is a Kiwi cricketer. It is important to note that Neesham had no say in the final of the tournament whatsoever.

Taking to Instagram, Neesham mentioned on his story that there were abuses against him from some of the fans. The DM of Neesham was filled with such comments, as claimed by Neesham himself. The Kiwi All-rounder took to Instagram and expressed his anguish at the fact that some of the fans misunderstood him to be an Aussie cricketer. Neesham gave back to them with an interesting meme.
Such incidents keep on happening whenever a player performs well against India. Tarvis Head, who scored a fantastic hundred in the final against India, was attacked with hateful comments. It happened in the past as well. It questions the common sense of some of the fans. India lost the final in one of the most untasteful days of cricket, which made fans go crazy to say things that should not be.
