‘Fitness King’s statement Never Fails’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma says 2023 will not be MS Dhoni’s last Indian T20 League

The Chennai fans have been going ga-ga over MS Dhoni. First, MS Dhoni’s chiselled biceps were doing the rounds on social media. Many cricket pundits said this would see the return of MS Dhoni’s power-hitting game. Ahead of the Indian T20 League 2023, Rohit Sharma made a huge statement about MS Dhoni.

“MS Dhoni is fit enough to play for 2-3 more years. I don’t think it’s his last year”. There have been several reports that MS Dhoni would step-down after the upcoming Indian T20 League. But Rohit’s statement contradicts that.  The 41-year-old has been under fire after Chennai has not had the best of seasons in 2020 and 2022. Dhoni’s fitness is looking much better as compared to a year back.

Rohit has led the Mumbai franchise to five titles. Mumbai is one of the most successful franchises in the league. Chennai comes second in the list. They have four titles. MS Dhoni-led Chennai to a title in 2021. Chennai had a rocky 2022 as a change in captaincy did not work out. Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round game was affected. Dhoni was reinstated as captain after half the season. Chennai won four matches in the 2022 season.

They lost 10 matches and ended up one eight points. The ‘Yellove Army’ finished seventh on the points table. The franchise brought in Ben Stokes and Sisanda Magala, who came into the side after the 2022 auction. Deepak Chahar has also attained full fitness ahead of the Indian T20 League. Chennai will want to win a trophy for MS Dhoni if it is indeed his last season. Mumbai lacks teeth as a side and it remains to be seen how their season will unfold.

The Chennai and Mumbai fans will be looking forward to the ‘El Classico’ in the Indian T20 League. The fans will fill up stadiums and will be eagerly waiting for the encounters. The Indian public will be looking forward to watching games at Indian Stadiums in the home and away format. The games will happen across the country in 12 venues.
