Fab four to be reportedly part of Indian T20 League for the first time

The Indian T20 League has just gotten better. The tournament will move back to its home and away format this season. The games will be played in 12 venues. Meanwhile, the possibility of the fab four that is, Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Steve Smith coming together might come true. Kohli will play for the Bangalore side. Williamson has switched bases from Hyderabad to Gujarat. Joe Root has got a contract in the Indian T20 League for the first time.

The big surprise is Steve Smith. The former Australia captain has put out a video on social media saying that he will be associated with the Indian T20 League this season. He has said that he will be coming to India and will be joining a memorable team. There are some reports that he is joining the league as a commentator. If Smith comes for a stint, then it would be for a month. This is because he will play County cricket for Sussex in May.

Steve Smith last played for Delhi in the Indian T20 League

If it all comes together, then the four superstars will be participating in the Indian T20 League together for the first time. Smith has been involved in the Indian T20 League in the past few seasons. He has played and captained Rajasthan.  Chennai and Rajasthan were banned for two years in 2016 and 2017. Smith played for Pune in those two years. He played under MS Dhoni in 2016. In 2017, he led the Pune franchise to the final where they lost to Mumbai.

Smith has also played for Delhi in the 2021 Indian T20 League. He was brought by Delhi for 2 crores INR. He was unsold in the 2o22 mega-auction. If Smith joins the commentary panel, then it will be alongside Aaron Finch. Finch was commentating on the recent India-Australia ODI series. The Indian T20 League will be a spectacle to watch. The crowds will flock to Indian stadiums again. The grounds will have an electric atmosphere. The Indian fans will have a different rivalry over two months.
