Cristiano Ronaldo shook the world with his shocking signing for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr after the FIFA World Cup. The Real Madrid legend played in his 5th World Cup but could not get the coveted trophy while his arch-rival Lionel Messi finally won it with Argentina.

Messi’s World Cup win has created this huge divide between the two players as more people now consider Messi to be marginally better than Ronaldo. With age catching up, Ronaldo wasn’t getting many offers in the last transfer window when he revealed that he wanted to play for a Champions League team.

The former Manchester United player however wasn’t impressed with the direction the English club was taking and was angry at the board for mistreatment. In absolute anger, he did an explosive interview with English host Piers Morgan in which he criticised the club, manager, and the entirety of the structure for being unambitious.

Following his public outrage, Manchester United decided to terminate Ronaldo’s contract. He was also punished for knocking a phone out of an Everton fan’s hand at Goodison Park. Now at Al Nassr following a $180 million a year deal, Ronaldo would have to serve the punishment levied on him when he was at United.

The Portuguese player was banned for 2 matches following his public outburst through the interview as he was found guilty of knowingly smacking phone off from a fan’s hands. Since then, he hasn’t played any club football with Al Nassr’s game for the first ever since.

Ronaldo however would not be able to play for the team on Thursday against Al-Ta’ee. The 5 times Ballon d’Or winner would have to wait until Al Nassr play two competitive matches before he could get a game time.

The 37-year-old was banned for two matches for knocking a young fan’s phone out of his hand and would have to serve the two-match ban at Al Nassr.
