After taking retirement from all forms of the game, former cricketer Ambati Rayadu is all set to start his political career as he is likely to run for Lok Sabha. However, Rayadu will still continue to play in the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States.
The former Indian Cricketer was recently seen with Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. According to the reports by the Times of India, Reddy wants Rayadu to contest in the next elections. However, it is yet to be decided whether Rayadu will run in the assembly elections or the Lok Sabha elections.
According to further reports, the senior officials believe that the former cricketer should run for office in the Ponnur or Guntur West constituencies for assembly elections and Machilipatnam for the Lok Sabha. Rayadu also heaped praise on the Andhra Pradesh CM and said that Jagan Mohan Reddy is an inspiration for the people who want to enter politics.
Rayadu to play for Texas Super Kings in MLC
Notably, Rayadu bid adieu to all forms of cricket after winning IPL 2023 with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last month. However, the 37-year-old will continue to play in overseas T20 cricket as he is set to play for another CSK franchise, Texas Super Kings in the MLC. In his latest interview, Rayadu said that thereb were certain people who were hindering his career.
There was a controversy sparked between Rayadu and the former Chief of Selector MSK Prasad ahead of the 2019 ODI World Cup. The selectors opted for all-rounder Vijay Shankar in place of Rayadu saying that he is ‘three dimensional player.’ After that, Rayadu also took a dig at the selectors by sharing a Tweets that stated, “Just ordered a new set of 3D glasses to watch the world cup.”
“A team selection is not done by an individual. Even if he deliberately wanted to or not, there are many other factors. There were certain people in team management. There was one Hyderabadi person. There were some instances when I was young when we did not get along. Small things which I did not like about them and some they did not like about me. And they have been built over a period of time. These were the same people I have dealt with for my entire career in a cycle,” Rayudu said in the interview with TV9 Telugu.
