‘Could not have come at a worse time’ – WWE women’s tag team champion Sonya Deville confirms her ACL injury
The WWE Women's tag-team champion might be out of action for months.

Sonya Deville, the WWE Women’s tag-team champion, has confirmed her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. The 29-year-old took to Twitter and informed her fans about the injury which would need surgery. The ACL tear and the surgery would mean that the tag-team champion can be out of action for months. The fans are wishing the champion a speedy recovery.
On July 28 in Smackdown Live, Deville suffered an ACL tear as she faced the duo of Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair in a match. In the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Deville took on the duo Flair and Belair with her partner Chelsea Green. The new champions claimed the title in the State Farm Arena in Atlanta on July 17 after beating the former holders Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

There were rumors of Deville sustaining the injury after the match against the duo Belair and Flair. The fans were speculating a lot of things and Deville confirmed her ACL tear in her Twitter account. In the video, Deville said that she would be undergoing surgery to get cured of the tear. The WWE women’s superstar will undergo surgery on August 8th.
The WWE Women’s tag-team championship has seen such injuries of the holders in the past. The likes of Liv Morgan and Aliyah were injured during their tenure as the title holders. Talking about the same in the video, Deville mentioned in a joking manner that the women’s tag-team championship is cursed. Green’s partner revealed her disappointment over the injury.
Deville said that the injury could not have come at the wrong time. It will be interesting to see how WWE would tackle the tricky situation. Once Deville would be back after the recovery, it would be good to see how the situation transpires. For now, the women’s tag-team title is missing one of its holders. Sonya was visibly disappointed with her injury and let her fans know about the same.
