India and Ireland locked horns in the first T20I in Dublin. The coin went the way of the Men in Blue as they won the toss and chose to bowl. Ireland did not get off to a good start as Andrew Balirnie and Lorcan Tucker fell for four runs on the board. Balbirnie was clean-bowled by Bumrah on his comeback. Harry Tector became Prasidh Krishna’s first victim on his comeback to the Indian T20I setup.

Tucker was Bumrah’s second wicket. Ireland skipper Paul Stirling hit 11 off 11 balls before being castled by Ravi Bishnoi when he looked to cut a ball. He was the fourth wicket to fall. George Dockrell did not trouble the scorers as he was the fifth one to fall caught by Tilak Varma off Prasidh. Mark Adair came in and hit a run-a-ball 16 with two fours. But he fell with a score of 59-6.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hit 24 off 23 balls for India against Ireland

Just when it was looking very bad for Ireland,  Curtis Campher played a good knock of 39 off 33 balls with three fours and one six. This gave Ireland some hope. Barry McCarthy came in at number eight and smashed 51 off 33 balls with four fours and four sixes. It was a wonderful innings from the tall lanky man who gave Ireland a score to fight with. They ended their innings on 199-7 in their 20 overs. Bumrah, Prasidh and Ravi Bishnoi picked up two wickets each in their respective spells.

Arshdeep Singh took 1-35 in his four overs. Though he started well, he conceded a lot of runs in the death overs. In the second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad got India off to a fast start in the run chase. Jaiswal made 24 off 23 balls with three fours and one six. Gaikwad hit an unbeaten 19 off 16 balls with one four and one six.

Jaiswal fell to Craig Young with a score of 46. Tilak Varma was dismissed off the next ball caught behind by Tucker. The rain came down after that and India was 47-2 after 6.5 overs. The DLS Par score was 45 which meant India won the first T20I by 2 runs.
