Former WWE Champion John Cena is all set to make his return to WWE next month. Cena will feature in the first episode of SmackDown slated to go live on September 1. He’ll then be in action in a live event happening in India on September 8. The company confirmed these updates through its official Twitter handle. The Superstar was quick to retweet the same with the caption, “Cannot wait to reunite with the WWE family live on Smackdown! Especially excited to meet the WWE Universe in India and wrestle for the first time ever in India. The time is now. C U all very soon! WWE, WWE India.”

John Cena has been WWE’s face for a long time. However, with the recent developments, his appearances have been scarce at the company event. He last appeared in his surprise participation in July’s Money in the Bank. He was included in the line-up for WrestleMania 39 but had to face defeat against Austin Theory. In a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Cena admitted that he misses being an active part of the promotion.

‘They paid good money and I’m gonna go out there’ – John Cena on missing the promotion

“Man, I wish I was still there every day. I just can’t. My body can’t do it anymore and I don’t want to give the consumer a bad product. That’s a thing that I learned from those veterans at that time. Guys like Eddie just would risk so much. He’s like, ‘I’m never gonna give the consumer a bad product. I don’t care how I feel. I don’t care how I feel physically, I don’t care what baggage I have mentally. When I’m on, they paid good money and I’m gonna go out there and give everything I have and sometimes find it when it’s not there,” the 46-year-old said.

The Hyderabad Superstar Spectacle, slated to take place on September 8 will be the first live WWE show since 2017 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
