Breaking! West Indies pacer named as Mark Wood’s replacement by Lucknow Super Giants

West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph has struck Gold since making his international debut in the two-match Test series against Australia. Making his debut with the wicket of Australia Test vice-captain Steve Smith, the West Indies player was the Player of the Series after the series. After losing the first Test badly, the Caribbeans made a comeback and won a Test Down Under after 27 years.

In the second Test at the Gabba, Brisbane, Shamar took a seven-wicket haul to win the game for his side by seven runs. With this, the Northern Americans finished the series by 1-1 and got their first win of the WTC 2023-25 cycle. Meanwhile, a while back, he was named in 2017 PSL winners, Peshawar Zalmi as a cover for England pacer Gus Atkinson. The latter is in India for the ongoing five-match Test series.

Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2024 schedule announcement, the Guyana player has been named as the replacement for England pacer Mark Wood. The latter is also part of the Test squad in India.

“Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) named Shamar Joseph as a replacement for pacer Mark Wood for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

“Joseph will join LSG for INR 3 Crore. The speedster was recently at the forefront during West Indies’ Test win at the Gabba. He picked 7 wickets in the 2^nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies. This will be Joseph’s first stint in the IPL,” a statement from the official website of the cash-rich league reads.
