Ishant Sharma is reportedly going to provide commentary for the next West Indies series. Two tests will be the first stop on the West Indies trip. Then 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is will come after that. Ishant most likely will be on the panel providing comments in Hindi. Ishant has played for India in 105 Test matches and taken 311 wickets for an average of 32.40 and an economy rate of 3.15.

When it comes to the Indian Test squad for the West Indies tour, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have earned call-ups. There are reports suggesting that Jaiswal could make his debut in the West Indies. The Test side will be led by Rohit Sharma. The Men in Blue are coming off a heavy defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final where they were beaten by 209 runs at the Oval in England.

Rakheem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican have made comebacks into the West Indies Test side

Since this is the new WTC cycle India will be keen to beat the West Indies 2-0. The West Indies on the other hand have crashed out of the 2023 ODI World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe and will want to make a statement in the Test series. For the two Test matches and for the first Test specifically, West Indies have picked the uncapped duo of Krik McKenzie and Alick Athanaze in the 13-man squad. The spin duo of Rakheem Cornwall and Jomel Warrican return to the Men in Maroon.

On another note, Ishant Sharma in his interviews has been very funny and witty. His episode with Gaurav Kapur on Breakfast with Champions has garnered a lot of views. Ishant when he started out was famous for bowling long spells in domestic cricket for Delhi.  His performance in the 2008 series against Australia by keeping Ricky Ponting on his toes and dismissing him proved what he was capable of.

During India’s previous visit, Ishant also hit his first Test century against the Men in Maroon. In 2010, the pacer and VVS Laxman struck an essential 31 runs together to help India win a gripping Test match at Mohali. This was the pacer’s other significant occasion with the bat.
