Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a huge margin of 112 runs at Jaipur in IPL 2023 in their previous match. RCB scored 171-5 batting first after winning the toss on a challenging surface. Faf du Plessis made 55 off 44 balls with three fours and two sixes. Glenn Maxwell whacked the RR spinners, making 55 off 33 balls with five fours and three sixes. Anuj Rawat smashed a quickfire 29 off 11 balls with three fours and two sixes. RR were bundled out for just 59 runs in the chase.
RCB will play their next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad which must win for them. RCB trainer Shankar Basu had a fun test that he did on Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik. He handed a cheese pocket to Kohli who outrightly refused it with a fierce stoic expression on his face. Karthik on the other hand had his eyes firmly fixed on it. It looked like he wanted to take the cheese pocket and gobble it up.
Wayne Parnell picked up a three-wicket haul for Royal Challengers Bangalore against Rajasthan Royals
RCB bowled like a well-oiled unit against RR. They were also helped by some shoddy batting as well. it looked like the RR batters were trying to hit every ball out of the park. Wayne Parnell was outstanding with the ball for RCB. The left-armer picked up 3-10 in his three overs spell. Michael Bracewell scalped 2-16 in his two overs spell. Karn Sharma took 2-19 in his short 1.3 over burst. Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj also picked up a wicket each.
Shimron Hetmyer was the only batter who showed some fight and resistance. The left-hander made an aggressive 35 off 19 balls with one four and four sixes. The 112 win gave a big boost to RCB’s net run rate (NRR) turning the initial negative NRR to positive. This also gave them hope of getting into the playoffs. But they have their task cut out as they need to win their last two games in IPL 2023.
The Bold Army face the Orange Army next and then will go up against a rampaging GT. The Hardik Pandya-led side have been very clinical this season. Even if RCB win their next game against SRH then they would want a favourable result at home against GT where their track record has not been great.
