Bangalore skipper Smriti Mandhana cops online abuse after franchise loses four matches on trot in Women’s T20 League 2023

The Women’s Indian T20 League has been wonderful to see as there have been high-scoring encounters on most occasions. The boundaries are much smaller in Mumbai at the DY Patil Stadium and at the Brabourne Stadium.

While all the other teams have got off the mark in the league with one win, Bangalore have been winless in the tournament, so far. Things have gone from bad to worse for the bold army as their skipper Smriti Mandhana was subjected to online abuse after Bangalore lost four on the bounce.

Bangalore are at the bottom of the Women’s T20 League table. There has been a scathing attack launched on Mandhana in reaction to the results. She has come under fire for the team’s performance.

Bangalore had not been able to initiate breakthroughs with the ball. Their bowling has lacked teeth. The franchise has not been able to find a way to break the jinx. The bowlers have conceded huge totals and the batters have lost wickets in clusters even after they have had a good start. A lot of comparisons have been made to the men’s side. The Women’s side have been labelled as chockers.

The Bold Army have not had the best of outings. The fans have not been treated to the best of cricket from their franchises. Despite Mandhana facing a lot of online abuse, the players at Bangalore have firmly backed her.

“I think she’s a great captain too. She just needs a chance to find her feet in the tournament and she will no doubt.” Ellyse Perry said.   “It’s a ginormous task to come into a brand new competition and play with a group of players that she has never played with before and try and make that all gel in a matter of a couple of days since she joined the group,”  The Australian cricketer said.
