India are in a tight spot at the moment when it comes to Test Championship final. They have three personnel that will not be a part of the big final in England. Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer will likely miss the match. The game will take place between 7 and 11 June at the Oval. Bumrah has been a revelation for India in Tests. Rishabh Pant has been India’s best batter in Test cricket with impact innings.

When it comes to Shreyas Iyer, he has been a vital cog in the Indian middle order and has done well in the 10 tests that he has played.  It remains to be seen whether Bumrah will be fit for the Test Championship final. The pacer had a back injury which made miss the 20-20 World Cup in Australia. Iyer had also missed the limited overs leg of the New Zealand series due to a back injury.

India will play their second Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval in June

Pant with hundreds in England and Australia has been India’s best batter in Tests and has had the most impact with his aggressive stroke play. With Pant not a part of the final, India have lost a valuable left-handed option in the middle order. This has made the India middle order brittle. The keepers slot also is uncertain as KS Bharat did not show the best of signs in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

India won the Border-Gavaskar trophy 2-1 against Australia. When Sri Lanka lost a thriller to New Zealand at Christchurch then India qualified for the final for the second time running. The Test side had lost to New Zealand in the Test Championship final in 2021. India against the Australian pacers will be a different contest all together. The Kangaroos have experience in English conditions having played Ashes matches there.

The Indian side will have their task cut out. Australia will be looking to avenge the Border-Gavaskar trophy defeat. India will hope to put up a good performance and end their trophy drought in World events which started after 2013. The Rohit Sharma led side will want to right the wrongs and get the silverware.
