The defending Gujarat Titans (GT) are clashing against Lucknow Super Giants in the 30th match of theIndian Premier League2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, April 22. GT skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bat first as the team thought that they might become slower in the second innings.
However, they didn’t have a great start as they lost their young opener Shubman Gill on a two-ball duck in the second over. LSG off-spinner Krunal Pandya delivered a tossed-up ball that was drifting in, Gill used his feet and tried to chip it down the ground but only managed to get it off the toe-end of the bat and Ravi Bishnoi at long-off caught it safely.
Talking about GT’s journey in the season, they have had a mixed season so far but they still have won 3 out of their 5 games. They began in style as they won their first two games but have blown hot and cold since then. Their death bowling woes came to the fore once again as they lost a tight game against Rajasthan Royals(RR). But, they are a champion side and we can expect them to come back hard.
In the previous season, they had the wood over LSG on both occasions. Stitching together a few wins in a row is what both these sides will be striving for. However, the KL Rahul-led side is performing well in this season so far as they sitting on the second position in the points table with 4 wins in 6 matches, while RR are the table toppers.
Surprisingly, LSG defeated RR in their last match but couldn’t achieve the top spot as RR’s net run rate is much better than LSG’s. They played out of their skin to win a tight contest against RR and that will give them immense confidence. Most of their bowlers were at their miserly best and helped them win the crunch moments.
