The Indian team made a fine start with the bat in pursuit of the 257-run target set by Bangladesh. If India wins the game this will be their 4th win of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. Shubman Gill came back to form as he struck an amazing half-century in Pune on Thursday.

Shakib AL Hasan was rested for the game as Najmul Hossain Shanto was named the skipper. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first on a relatively humid day. Hasan Mahmud was the only replacement for the Bangladeshi team.

India on the other hand went into the game unchanged for their 4th game of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. India had beaten Australia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan so far in their campaign. Bangladesh had come into the game on the back of two losses to England and New Zealand.

Sara Tendulkar’s glee at Shubman Gill’s batting exploits –

For long now young Indian batter Shubman Gill has been linked to Sara Tendulkar. On Thursday the young daughter of the India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar was in attendance.

Sara Tendulkar was seen clapping and cheering Shubman Gill to every stroke he played. Every time the 24-year-old hit boundaries the cameras panned to the VIP box where Sara Tendulkar was seated.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India yet another fantastic opening stand in pursuit of 257. The openers added 88 runs for the 1st wicket in just 12.4 overs before the Indian skipper was out. After two amazing innings in his previous two games, Rohit Sharma was looking to dominate once again.

The Indian skipper had hit Hasan Mahmud for a perfect hook shot which went all the way for a six. Hasan Mahmud followed it up with another short ball as Rohit Sharma tried to pull it for a six only to be caught by Hridoy. Rohit Sharma scored 48 runs from 40 balls with the help of 7 fours and 2 sixes.

Shubman Gill had scored 16 runs on his return against Pakistan in Ahmedabad on Sunday. On Thursday the young Indian opener scored his first ODI World Cup half-century. The right-handed batter scored 53 runs off 55 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes before being caught by Mahmudullah off Mehidy Hasan.
