The youngster missed the game on Sunday in Chennai against Australia after he couldn’t recover in time. Shubman Gill had tested positive for Dengue just a few days before the ODI World Cup 2023 was set to begin.

Indian cricket board’s medical update on Shubman Gill

There is bad news for Indian Cricket fans who want to see Shubman Gill in action in New Delhi. The 24-year-old is set to stay back in Chennai flanked by the Indian Cricket Board’s medical team.

It is believed that Shubman Gill will be looked at closely and this rules him out of the Afghanistan contest. The 24-year-old will be under constant supervision of the Indian Cricket Body medical unit.

There is hope that Shubman Gill will be fit in time for the game against Pakistan this coming Saturday. The 24-year-old has a stupendous record while playing at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma will come out to bat with Ishan Kishan once again on Wednesday. The young left-handed batter slashed at a wide ball from Mitchell Starc. The catch was taken by Cameron Green in the slips as Kishan was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

The Indian cricket team began its ODI World Cup 2023 campaign with a win over Australia on Sunday. KL Rahul with 97 not out and Virat Kohli with 85 guided India to a famous win over the five-time World Cup winners.

This was the fifth time that India had beaten Australia in ODI World Cup history in their 13 encounters. Australia will next take on South Africa in a blockbuster match on Thursday in Lucknow. The Aussies will then take on Sri Lanka at the same venue before playing Pakistan in Bengaluru.
