Cheteshwar Pujara received a signed jersey from the Australian team skipper Pat Cummins on the completion of 100 Test matches. The bedrock of the Indian Team has scored 7052 runs in 100 Tests at an average of 44.07 and at a strike rate 44.4. He has made 19 hundreds and 34 fifties with the highest score of 206 to his name, which came against the Kangaroos in India.

Pujara became the 13th Indian player to play 100 Tests. On the occasion of his 100th Test, he was given a guard of honour by the Indian Team. His batting is modelled around Rahul Dravid’s batting and has scored tons of runs for the Indian team. He has taken many blows to the body amidst hostile spells of bowling.

In the second Test against Australia in Delhi, Pujara played a gritty knock of 31 off 74 balls, including five fours and also hit the winning boundary.

‘I never thought I would play 100 Test matches for India’ – Cheteshwar Pujara

“Welcome to the 100th Test club, and I wish and pray that you become the first Indian to score a big hundred in your 100th Test and lay the foundation for yet another win in Delhi,” Sunil Gavaskar said to Cheteshwar Pujara before the game.

“You’ve taken the blows, you got up, and you made bowlers earn your wicket. Every single run you scored is a big plus for India. You’ve been a role model for what hard work, self-belief, and dreams can do.”  Gavaskar added.

“Legends like you have inspired me. As a young cricketer, I always dreamt of playing for India, but I never thought I’d be playing 100 Test matches for India. The most important part is you need to be mentally strong. You need to believe in yourself. You should know your strength as a player. And that was something that I backed throughout my career. That is something that has given me success. I knew that if I had success in the first five-seven years because of what I had done, I can’t change my game.” Pujara said.

Pujara has been a wonderful asset for Team India in the red-ball format. The man from Saurashtra has been a great character in the most difficult situations. He has been a match-winner for the national side and has been a big differentiator in the Indian side which is primarily filled with stroke makers.

Fans came with numerous reactions after Pat Cummins gave the signed jersey to Pujara. Here’s a look at some of those:
