Pakistan’s abysmal show at the Asia Cup final has been under the scanner and Salman Butt, the former Pakistan batsman, has lashed out at the team for capitulating as a batting unit on a pitch that was a very good batting wicket. The Pakistan side has come into focus again after failing to chase down a manageable total of 171 in the final that took place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The likes of Fakhar & Babar didn’t get going all the time and threw away their good starts. We all have seen that Pakistan Cricket Team don’t have recognizable middle-order batters who can play the big innings. The likes of Asif Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed should play the ball on merit instead of playing ambitious shots and end up getting dismissed.
Following the defeat, Shadab Khan took to Twitter to accept that his dropped catches cost his team in the Asia Cup 2022 final. Later, Hasan Ali posted a reel in Shadab’s support that showed what a great fielder the latter is.
Salman Butt came down heavily on Shadab Khan & Pakistan Cricket Team’s twitter handle while talking on his YouTube channel.
“The funny part is that they all have one manager and he only posts good things about one player and then he only goes to the other end and acknowledges it. It’s just become a circus.”
“A player from one end apologizes for his mistake but then the other says “No brother, you played really well. But all these tweets are done by the same manager and. all this is just a play-act. I can bet on it that more than half of them don’t know what’s written in their tweet.” He added.
The batters of Pakistan have coped the brunt on social media for not showing enough intent with the bat and some decisions taken by Babar Azam as the skipper of the men in green were really baffling to see, such as bringing the part timer Iftikar Ahmed on when there were two set batters for Sri Lanka at the crease. Also, his shot selection in the Asia Cup 2022 was not that great. Babar Azam had not been in form right throughout the Asia Cup which put additional pressure on the Pakistan batters.
