Bangladesh and India are facing off in the second Test that kicked off on December 22, Thursday and the match looked equally poised at the end of the Bangla Tigers’ second innings. To add more, the Shakib Al Hasan-led team were restricted to 227 runs in the first innings and on the back of Rishabh Pant’s 93, India were bowled out for 314 runs. Much to the delight of the Indian fans, the Bangladeshi team were bowled out for 231 runs in their second innings, setting a target of 145.

However, Shakib’s wicket in the second innings turned out to be the game-changer for the KL Rahul-led team and set the tone for India’s chase. Opening up on the same, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, claimed that the Bangla Tigers Shakib needs to check his eyes as the southpaw got out in a similar way in both innings. Saying that he did not mean it in the wrong way, Gavaskar claimed that it was not understandable to witness Shakib getting out in a similar fashion.

Notably, Shakib has been struggling to get his form back although one could argue that the southpaw played a great-hearted innings in the second innings of the first Test, scoring 84 runs when the Bangla Tigers were chasing a mammoth target of 513.

“What is Shakib’s age? May be he should get his eyes checked. He is a very good batsman, but twice he has got out in that manner. I don’t mean any disrespect, please don’t misunderstand me. I think it might be an idea. Those were not driveable balls. Those weren’t even slower deliveries, they were proper pacing deliveries,” Gavaskar was quoted as saying to the former Bangladeshi skipper Athar Ali Khan.

As far as India’s chase in the second Test is concerned, at stumps on Day 3, the Indian camp remained at 45/4, although they were chasing a meagre target. It was Mehidy Hasan who caused the ruckus with the ball with his three-for on the day and it remained to be seen if the off-break bowler would pick more wickets on Day 4.
