In match 27 of The Hundred 2022, Oval Invincibles and London Spirit clashed with both teams wanting to clinch the crucial two points to stay in the top-three race. The London Spirit skipper Eoin Morgan won the momentum initially for his team as he won the toss and elected to bat first against a strong bowling attack.
The skipper’s decision backfired right from the start as opener Ben McDermott returned for a three-ball duck while the other opener Adam Rossington stayed at the crease for a bit longer to bag 36 runs to his name. Josh Inglis returned on his eighth ball, while Dan Lawrence and skipper Eoin Morgan returned to the dressing room in quick succession as things started to get loose for the Spirit.
The blue team never got out of the labyrinth as they kept losing wickets in quick succession as Ravi Bopara let down the team and Jordan Thompson had to try hard to get things under control. London Spirit had to face the wrath of Invincibles’ bowlers as the latter restricted the blue team to 122 at the end of the innings.
Chasing a target of 123, the Invincibles’ openers Will Jacks and Jordan Cox looked steady to clinch the win until the latter failed to launch. South African Rilee Rossouw and reputed English allrounder Sam Curran raced back in quick succession. Tom Curran flourished with the bat as he managed to find four boundaries within his arc and skipper Sam Billings finished things in style for the Invincibles as they moved to third place after the fantastic win.
This win was important for the Invincibles as they lost three of their first six matches and a loss here might have made things worse for the green team. The Twitter community joined hands together to heap praise on Will Jacks for his well-made half-century and Oval Invincibles for their emphatic win against London Spirit in match 27 of The Hundred 2022.
50 for will Jacks wohoo. So happy for him

Ravi Bopara and Eoin Morgan batting together like its 2009 again

Tom Curran has bailed #Invincibles out big time. 33 off 31 with only three boundaries from Cox and Roussow combined is utterly baffling given they have by far the worst net run rate of any team with two teams left to play.#TheHundred2022#LSvOI🏏🔵🟢
