Amidst the vibrant hues of diyas and the warm glow of lanterns, the Indian cricket team gathered to embrace the spirit of Diwali, one of India’s most cherished festivals. The team’s celebration was a testament to the deep-rooted values of unity and togetherness that bind the squad together, both on and off the field.
The Indian Cricket Board shared a video on social media capturing the team, dressed in festive attire, celebrating the ‘Festival of Lights’ with their families. The video shows the players and their loved ones enjoying the occasion with delicious food, and warm company. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja are seen in the video with their respective wives, Anushka Sharma, Ritika Sajdeh, and Rivaba Jadeja.
The Indian Team has had a remarkable World Cup campaign, having won all their eight games so far. Most of the wins have been absolutely clinical and even when they were challenged, the players responded in superb fashion to ensure a victory. India have already qualified for the semi-finals and they are due to play New Zealand on November 15 at the Wankhede Stadium in the presence of an electric crowd.
India played the semi-finals of the 2019 edition of the World Cup against the same opponent. In what was a heartbreaking loss for India, they fell 18 runs short in a 240-run chase against the Kiwis at Old Trafford, Manchester. The match was a forgettable outing for the team, who had gone into the game as favourites but were unable to live up to the expectations of their fans.
India will be looking forward to putting up a better show this time around in a bid to end the trophy drought. However, before facing Kane Williamson and his boys, India will take on the Netherlands in their final group-stage game today at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India looks well prepared for the challenges ahead and going by the Diwali video and all the other clips shared on social media, the team atmosphere looks impeccable, an important factor in a big tournament.
