Shubman Gill scored the sixth hundred of his ODI career and damaged the confidence of the Australian bowlers. In the second ODI in Indore, Gill looked at his best after seeing off the new ball. It was his first ODI hundred against the Australian team. The opener has been in a phenomenal form in the format. The runs have been coming continuously from the blade of Gill.
The 24-year-old looked to steady the Indian innings after the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad. As Iyer went well at the other end, Gill joined the party and started smashing the Australian bowlers. There was no respite for the bowlers whatsoever. Gill scored runs in all parts of the ground. The right-handed batter scored fifth ODI hundred in the calendar year 2023.
Steve Smith won the toss and elected to bowl first on a good batting track in Indore. The Australian ca ptain would regret his decision seeing how Gill batted. The Firozpur-born batter was particularly good in the V. The youngster targeted the straight boundaries well and scored a lot of runs in the region from long-on to long-off.
In his stay in the middle, Gill scored 104 runs in 97 balls. The knock of the Indian batter came at a strike rate of 107.22 and included 6 fours and 4 sixes. Along with Shreyas Iyer, Gill was involved in a 200-run partnership for the second wicket. It was a good partnership considering that India lost the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad early in the innings. The knock would have given a good boost to the youngster.
With a match still to go, Gill has 178 runs already in the series at an average of 89.00, at a great strike rate of 111.25, including a fifty and a hundred. The way Gill framed his innings was good to see. Gill was strong against the spinners and was equally good against the spinners. The crowd was entertained by the knock of Gill and applauded him with a standing ovation. Gill has the most runs for a batter in ODIs in 2023.

It’s a flat track, it’s a fine innings but nothing like take a bow type innings, road pitch and small boundary, we need 400+ score today for a winning total
