The matches between India and Pakistan in any sport are always hyped up due to the rivalry between the two nations over the years. Particularly in cricket, there has been an immense rivalry between the two teams over the years, especially since the mid-1980s. Since 1992, India and Pakistan have faced each other in the ODI World Cup tournaments, which have always been a marquee event in cricket.
From 1992 till 2019, India has beaten Pakistan in the ODI World Cup 7 times. The two teams faced each other in the ODI World Cup in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2015, and 2019. Each of them had a different story, and the rivalry has only grown with each edition. The last time these two sides faced each other in cricket, the world witnessed an epic T20 World Cup match in Melbourne.
The hype for the clash between the two sides in the 2023 ODI World Cup has been unreal. More than 1 lakh spectators are expected to arrive in Ahmedabad to watch the match between the two sides. The schedule for the match had to change due to the Dasara festival in the city. The police said that controlling the crowd for the match would be difficult.
Before the updated schedule was announced, it was reported that the hotel prices in Ahmedabad for the night of the match were unevenly raised. Many 5-star hotels in the city of Ahmedabad charged huge prices for the night the match was scheduled. As the police reported the inability to control the crowd, the schedule had to be changed for the big match.
The updated schedule had the match preponed by a day. As the match between India and Pakistan got preponed, the hotels changed their prices for the night yet again. According to reports, star hotels have started to charge more than 350000 rupees for two nights, which is highly expensive. Hotels which had an average pricing of 4000 per night shot up to a whopping 60000 per night.
