The Indian Cricket Board has announced a slew of changes for the upcoming edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. To make it an even contest between bat and ball the Indian Cricket Board has allowed usage of two bouncers in the over. Alongside that change, there will be some changes applied to the impact player rule as well.
In 2022, the impact player rule would only come into play post the 14th over of the innings. Now with the change, the rule could be used at any point in the game. In the 2023 IPL edition, the rule was used at all points in time. The other change is that the teams will now have to give out their playing XIs before the toss along with four substitutes.
In the IPL, the point of difference was that the skippers bought out the team sheets only after the toss had finished. The tournament will take place from October 16 to November 6 according to the Indian Cricketing calendar this year. These changes for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy were decided at the Apex Council meeting by the Indian Cricket Board. The Indian Cricket Board also confirmed the Men in Blue’s participation in the Asian Games which will be held in Hangzhou in September.
Also, another change that was talked about in the meeting was the upgradation of all cricket grounds around India. In the first phase of the operation, full attention will be given to the stadiums that will be hosting the games in the 2023 ODI World Cup, In the second round, the other stadiums will also be given an upgrade.
India will play a full tour in the West Indies which consists of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been selected in the Test and T20I squad as well. Mukesh Kumar too finds a place in all three squads. Ravi Bishnoi and Sanju Samson have made comebacks into the Indian T20I setup.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:

This is very good. It'll help groom future players.
Many batsman can't play short balls and many bowlers can't take advantage of bouncy pitches.— Pichaa Paati (@Pichaa_paati) July 8, 2023
