Kane Williamson is showing tremendous improvements in recovering himself to be available for New Zealand as soon as possible. The star batter from New Zealand was injured during the first match of IPL 2023 against Chennai Super Kings. The regular captain of New Zealand had injured his right knee in an attempt to stop a boundary leading to his exit from IPL this season. Gujarat Titans missed the services of Kane Williamson for the entire season.

The ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament ) tear of Kane Williamson was severe. Some reports also suggested that Williamson might potentially miss the all-important ODI World Cup later this year. Considering the importance of the big tournaments, Kane has progressed quickly towards recovery. According to the reports, he’s recovering a lot quicker than expected. If everything goes well, the 32-year-old might make it to the squad of New Zealand for the ODI World Cup in October.

Kane Williamson’s importance for New Zealand’s World Cup campaign

The Tauranga-born cricketer uploaded a video of his daughter bowling to him in his home and posted it on his social media account with the caption “First competitive game back. Nice to have @graynicholls_ausnz back in hand”. In the cute video, Williamson was seen trying to recover from the injury. The middle-order batter is able to move his legs a bit more freely than before. New Zealand would be happy to see his improvement.

Williamson is very important for New Zealand’s World Cup campaign. In the 2019 World Cup, Kane was at his best with the bat and as a leader. In 10 matches, he scored 578 runs at an exceptional batting average of 82.57 including 2 hundred and 2 fifty in 9 innings. The Kiwi batter was awarded the player of the tournament for his brilliant batsmanship and captaincy in the tournament. A good player of spin like him is necessary for a batting lineup like that of New Zealand.
