Gautam Gambhir’s showdown with Virat Kohli grabbed a lot of attention in IPL 2023. The scuffle between Virat and Gambhir happened in an Indian Premier League game that involved the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants that happened at the Ekana stadium. An aggressive showdown ensued, and it made headlines. Now Gambhir says that he has no ill feelings between himself and Kohli or MS Dhoni.

Gambhir shared his views on the aggressive spat that he had with Kohli and said there was nothing personal between him and the former India captain. Gambhir did not hype up the altercation and played down the matter. He also echoed the same sentiments about MS Dhoni and said whatever happens between the two it stays on field and nothing is taken of the field. “My relationship with MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli is the same. If there is an argument between us, it stays only on the field, not off field. There’s nothing personal. They want to win as much as I do,” Gambhir was quoted as saying by News 18.

“Look, I have had many fights on cricket fields. It’s not like I never fought. I have always ensured to let those fights and arguments stay at the cricket field only. The argument was between two people and it should stay within the cricket field and not outside it. A lot of people said many things. A lot of people demanded an interview for TRPs like they asked me to clarify. The thing that has happened between two people doesn’t need to be clarified”. Gambhir elaborated.

In the same game, Kohli and Afghan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq had a heated altercation when the two met for customary handshakes after the game. Naveen appeared to grip Kohli’s hand tightly and in the end Kohli somehow shook it off. After the incident happened Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 percent of their match fees and Naveen got a 50 percent cut from his match fee.
