In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. However, MI skipper Rohit Sharma’s poor streak with the bat continued on Tuesday, as the 36-year-old managed to score only 7 runs before being dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga. He was trapped in front of wickets and given LBW out by 3rd umpire.
Meanwhile, former India cricketers Munaf Patel and Mohammed Kaif questioned DRS as it was pretty evident that Rohit was far out of the crease. Both Munaf and Kaif questioned the 3-meter rule and expressed their disappointment over the 3rd umpire’s decision. The incident occurred on the final ball of Mumbai’s fifth over.
Rohit attempted a shot towards the leg side but was stopped by Hasaranga, who made a strong appeal. The on-field umpire was not convinced, therefore RCB captain Faf du Plessis requested a DRS review, and Ultra Edge determined there was no bat involved. Rohit came back to the dugout in distress when the replays confirmed three reds.
However, Kaif posted a picture of Rohit being well outside of his crease and questioned the way of dismissal. He saud, “Hello DRS, yeh thoda jyada nahi ho gaya? How can this be lbw?” Munaf Patel also echoed him and Tweeted, “Lagta he ab DRS b DRS hona chahye, Unlucky #RohitSharma Kya bolti public, ye Out he ya nai ??”
However, speaking about the game, MI beat RCB by 6 wickets while chasing 200 runs at Wankhede. After Rohit’s unfortunate dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav along with Nehal Wadhera added 140 runs for the third wicket. Suryakumar in his innings scored 83 runs off 35 balls with the help of seven boundaries and six maximums. He was dismissed by Vijaykumar Vyshak.
Apart from him Nehal Wadhera also hammered his second consecutive half-century. He scored 52 runs off 34 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan also hammered 42 runs off 21 balls with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes. For RCB Wanindu Hasranga and Vijayakumar Vyshak clinched two wickets each.

Dist between stumps to the popping crease is 1.22 m according to the laws and by that calculations,
The impact of the ball on the pads was roughly between 2.95 m to 3.05 mSo it was a 50/50 call #MIvRCB #IPL2023
