Quinton De Kock’s shocking retirement from ODIs at the age of 30 has raised a lot of questions among the fans. It is a product of the changing dynamics in cricket. Recently, Wanindu Hasaranga of Sri Lanka announced retirement from test cricket at the age of 26. These are the signs of players choosing what they want to do, rather than forcing themselves to do something they do not quite like. 

It has not been a recent process. Due to various reasons, many players have announced untimely retirement from certain formats. The reasons vary from choosing high-paying T20 leagues to fitness concerns, mental pressure, physical fatigue, and so on. In the near future, more players might follow in the footsteps of De Kock. 4. Trent Boult 

Trent Boult is one of the cricketers who has vocally expressed their opinions of choosing League cricket over international cricket. After the 2022 T20 World Cup, Boult made himself unavailable for selections in New Zealand cricket team and chose T20 leagues over them. Cricket New Zealand accepted the decision of Boult and let him play in the T20 Leagues. If the process is to be believed, there are chances that the left-arm pacer might retire from ODIs after the 2023 World Cup.
