Mumbai produced a clinical performance to beat UP by 72 runs in the Eliminator match of the Women’s T20 League 2023 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. UP, who were chasing a target of 183 runs, struggled throughout their innings and were bowled out for 110 in just 17.4 overs.
Kiran Navgire was the only bright spot in their innings as she scored 43 runs off 27 balls. Mumbai’s Issy Wong was the standout performer with the ball, taking four wickets including a hat-trick, while Saika Ishaque chipped in with two dismissals.
Earlier, Mumbai had posted a competitive total of 182/4 in their 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten knock of 72 runs off 38 balls by Nat Sciver-Brunt. She was well supported by the rest of the batting lineup as they put up a challenging total on the board. Sophie Ecclestone was the pick of the bowlers for UP, taking two wickets and leading the Purple Cap race.
With this win, Mumbai has booked their spot in the final where they will face Delhi. The team will be high on confidence after this dominant performance and will look to carry this momentum forward into the final.
