Umesh Yadav has done well for India on his comeback in Indian Team as he scored a valuable 17 off 13 balls with one four and two sixes. India were 8-88 and were looking down in the dumps. They needed something special and Umesh Yadav provided that.
He took India past 100-run mark and equaled Virat Kohli’s record in terms of sixes in Test Cricket. Umesh Yadav made a comeback at the expense of Mohammad Shami, who was rested.
Umesh was also brought into the side with the thinking that if he is directly brought in for the Test Championship final then it would be a long gap. The agenda is to get Umesh back into the groove of playing Tests.

Umesh also contributed with the ball in Australia’s first innings as he picked up 3-12 in his five-over spell. He picked up the big wicket of Cameron Green and then picked up the wickets of Mitchell Starc and Todd Murphy which helped him clean up the Australian tail. The Kangaroos lost their last six wickets for 12 runs which was a procession of sorts.
Umesh has been a match-winner for India in Tests. The Vidarbha pacer has picked up 101 wickets on home soil at an average of 24.52 and a stunning economy rate of 3.18. The right-arm pacer knows the Indian conditions at the back of his hand and has been a game-changer for India at home. He used his raw pace to great effect and produced amazing results.
The Indian bowling attack finally got their act together. The management will hope that the Indian batting will do the same. This is somewhat a repeat of the Delhi Test where in the second innings, Jadeja had run through the Australians and picked up a seven-wicket haul.
